About · The company
Education, led by families.
Amber is an all-in-one learning environment for kids, shaped by parents and kids rather than schools and the government. The Legend of Amber is the first piece.
01 · Mission
The core premise of our company is that education should be led by parents and kids, not schools and the government. Parents and kids are the most invested in their family's educational journey, and when you give kids and parents the tools to shape the kid's educational environment, you can create amazing outcomes.
We are recreating everything a kid might use, in a way that is designed in the best interests of the kids and with a layer of observability and influence by the parent. This means we are rebuilding gaming, tutoring, messaging, social media, internet browsing (youtube + any recommendation system) and more in a way that puts healthy learning first rather than the engagement to monetization pathways.
We are unique in that we are taking a parent led approach. Where parents can from one place, procure any product or service for their kids and have high visibility into how the kid is doing with the tutoring service or the gaming app, and has the ability to shape a plan that influences how the service and product behaves.

03 · How it works for parents
Parents set the dials
How much game, which curriculum, how many focused minutes a day. Defaults are yours to change, not a growth team's to protect.
Two ways to learn
The same lesson runs as a quest inside The Legend of Amber, or as calm, distraction-free work. You choose the mode; your kid can choose within your limits.
Focus you can actually see
Focused hours, not screen time. On-device attention checks and on-screen patterns become a plain report, and video never leaves the device.

- A fellow raised hundreds of thousands from VCs
- An acquisition offer from a YC-backed company
- Financial aid available
05 · Questions
- What is The Legend of Amber?
- The Legend of Amber is a math game for kids aged 8–11. Your child works through the full grade 3–5 math curriculum — 41 skills across number, operations, fractions, measurement and geometry — and the game is built directly on top of that, so progress in the game is progress in the maths. It is made by Amber and has not launched yet.
- How is Amber different from Prodigy?
- In Prodigy the question and the reward are unrelated: you answer a problem, then cast a spell. In Amber the skill is the key — a gate opens because your child can do the thing, and what their character can do is a direct readout of which skills they have mastered. Amber also lets the parent choose how the game plays and what it contains, and it never sells anything to the child.
- What ages and grades is it for?
- Kids aged 8 to 11, covering the grade 3 to grade 5 mathematics curriculum. Skills are tagged to Common Core State Standards internally, but parents and kids see plain names like “Multiply fractions” rather than codes.
- Can parents control how much of it is a game?
- Yes. A single dial runs from a quiet timed worksheet with no map at all, through to a full adventure with story and rewards. The skills practised are identical at either end, and a parent can move the dial at any time. Parents also choose which mode their child plays and can reorder, skip or add to the content.
- Does Amber use the camera, and is that private?
- Camera-based attention checking is optional and off by default; a parent has to turn it on. When it is on, everything happens on the device — face landmarks are computed locally and each frame is discarded immediately. No video or image ever leaves the device or reaches Amber's servers, and there is no field anywhere in the system that could carry one.
- Are there in-app purchases, loot boxes or ads?
- No. No pay-to-win, no loot boxes, no energy timers, no advertising, no notifications aimed at the child, and no chat with strangers. Nothing is ever sold to your kid — the parent buys the product once and the child never meets a transaction.
- What do parents actually see?
- A weekly report on one screen: focused minutes rather than screen time, mastery broken down by unit and then by skill, the specific misconception behind each wrong answer, and where attention slipped. It reads the same whichever mode the child played.
- When does it launch?
- Amber is opening in 2026, and parents go first. You can join the waitlist at helloamber.ai to be told when it opens.
